When the puree is frozen, move the cubes to a freezer bag. You can use the chipotle cubes in soups, sauces, taco meat and more.

How to pit and peel an avocado. Peeling and pitting an avocado can be quite messy, but there is a simple way. Use a sharp knife and cut around the whole avocado lengthwise. Grip each half of the avocado and twist it apart. Using your knife, carefully but firmly hit the top of the pit and twist it. The pit will slide out, still attached to the knife. To remove the peel, simply take a large spoon and run it between the peel and the flesh. Enjoy!

To prevent dense pie fillings like pumpkin from cracking after cooking, allow the pie to cool on the oven rack. Need Help Fitting Your Laminate Flooring?

Start by making sure that your sub-floor is completely level, your sub-floor is the floor you’re intending to lay the laminate on. Depending on whether your sub-floor is wooden or concrete will determine how you go about levelling it.

Wooden sub-floors can be levelled with two different materials. Choose from either plywood or hardboard they both come in various sizes to make fitting easier. Plywood is the more expensive of the two but for good reason as it leaves a solid and level surface from which to fit your laminate flooring. Really it comes down to how uneven your sub-floor is; if your sub-floor is very uneven then opt for plywood.

If you have a concrete sub-floor then you’ll need to use a self-levelling compound with which to level the sub-floor. All concrete sub-floors need a membrane laid over the top to stop moisture from harming your laminate floor.

Now that your sub-floor is ready you can prepare to lay your laminate floor. Begin with fitting your underlay directly to the sub-floor. You must find some way of fixing the underlay to your sub-floor either by using duct tape or glue or with wooden floors you can use staple guns.

Having laid your underlay you can now start to lay your first pieces of laminate. Start in the far left hand corner with the entrance of the room behind you. Always lay the boards from left to right using 5-8mm wedges which you can pull out later. Having moved across the entire width of the room your last piece of laminate will need to be measured and then cut to size so as to fit neatly leaving a 5-8mm gap at both ends.

Repeat the above procedure for rows 2 and 3 ensuring plenty of wedges are used. By using as many wedges or spacers as possible your three rows of laminate should be tightly fitted this will ensure they don’t move when fitting the rest of the boards.

Now your 3 rows are secure just continue to lay the remaining boards when you have reached the other end of the space you’ll need to measure the last boards, remember to allow a 5-8mm gap.

• When you are young you want to experience all you can so be sure to include something in your budget for holidays and trips.
• The younger you start learning to save the easier it becomes the older you get, always allocate some of your income towards savings of some sort. A minimum of 15% should be put towards savings of some kind.

Good varieties include Granny Smith, McIntosh and Jonathan. If you are unsure of which apple to choose, ask the produce manager for an all-purpose baking apple.

Store your cooking spices in a cool dry place. This will ensure the longevity and potency of the flavors in your herbs and spices. A dark cabinet away from the stove is the ideal storage place. Spices kept in bright, hot environments usually fail to maintain their flavor long before any expiration date comes.

Marinate all of your meat. One of the most overlooked ways to improve your cooking is to let your meat rest in marinade before you cook. This will help meat retain moisture, and will impart it with richer flavors. You can also marinate your veggies with the meat to create even deeper flavors.

For easy low-fat cooking make sure that you measure the oil that you use in your recipes. If you just pour it from the bottle it is easy to accidentally include too much oil in the dish. By measuring it out, you are giving yourself much more control over how much oil you can use, which will help you to keep your dishes healthier.

If you want a delicious meal with little effort, try a roast dinner. Simply chop up some vegetables: carrots, potatoes, onions, and peppers all work well. Add a piece of meat with a little oil and seasoning. Roast at 400 degrees for about an hour, or until the meat is thoroughly cooked. That’s easier than you thought!

After you have cut the corn off of the cob, use the dull side of a knife (the one opposite the blade), and scrape the cob once more. This will extract any sweet, milky liquid that was left behind and add richness and flavor to whatever you are making.

To minimize freezer burn when freezing foods, place them in a zip-top freezer bag and close it most of the way, and then insert a drinking straw through the small opening. Squeeze out as much air as possible, and suck the rest out through the straw, pinching the bag the rest of the way closed when the air is gone. Less air exposure in the bag means fresher, freezer-burn-free foods when you are ready to defrost them.

Before you begin to cook a meal, prepare for your recipe. Wash and chop all of your vegetables, open cans and have all of your seasonings displayed and ready to use. This will ensure a smooth flow to your cooking and being prepared will help you avoid mistakes in your recipe.

When one is cooking something it is important that they follow the directions as closely as they possibly can. Forgetting an ingredient, putting in too much or too little of an ingredient, or not cooking something long enough are all problems that can arise when one is not paying attention to the directions.

To lighten up recipes that call for sour cream or mayonnaise, substitute plain Greek yogurt for half of the creamy ingredient. This thick, rich version of yogurt is full of protein and is often non-fat, so you can skimp on calories without altering the rich texture of your salad dressing or other recipe.

For a more flavorful fried fish coating, replace the usual crackers with your favorite kind of chips. Salt and vinegar chips crush up just as nice as crackers while adding more depth to the final flavor of fish. You can also replace the usual milk dip with dressing for another pop of unexpected flavor.

When cooking a steak, place it in the pan on its side, and let the fat drip into the pan. The side has a pocket of fat on the narrow edge, and the flavorful, rich fat makes for great-added flavor when you continue to cook your steak flat on both sides.

Keep your meal, flour, and other grain products in the refrigerator or freeze them for a few days before you put them in long term storage. Believe it or not, these products have a certain amount of bug eggs in them. Freezing them or holding them in cold temperatures for a few days kills the eggs and you save money by not having to throw out bags and boxes of ruined food when they hatch.

If you are doing some sheetrock taping, be sure to invest in a taping knife that is made of stainless steel. Wipe away any dirt, rust, and any other excess debris with the wool and replace the hinge pin and return the hinge to the door. Then apply lubricant.

When it comes time to re-do your roof, put up white tile, or another light colour substance. The lighter colour will reflect the sun’s rays instead of absorbing them, reducing the heat build up in your attic. You can save a substantial amount on your monthly heating and cooling bill.

Get really good references for contractors you use on your home improvements. It is far too easy for a con artist to take your money and run, leaving you with a wreck of a home and no more money to fix it. Don’t trust just anyone. Make sure you have plenty of excellent references, from people you really trust.

Choose materials that last. The best materials might not be the cheapest ones or the trendiest ones, but they will save you money on the long term. You should choose asphalt, wood, stones and ceramic for the outside of your house. For the inside, vinyl flooring lasts much longer.

If you don’t have enough space for a small office, you can use a small portion of your living room for that purpose. Buy a small privacy screen and place a desk behind it with a matching chair. You can purchase small shelves to install on your wall to store your pens, pencils, staplers and other important items.

When it comes to home improvement, it is not uncommon to ask for a contractor to provide references from their previous jobs. This is important to ensure that their prior customers received the satisfaction that you desire. It is not abnormal to ask for this, and if the contractor acts otherwise it is most likely because they have something to hide.

Painter’s tape will prevent damage to doorways and windowsills, and a drop cloth will protect both your shoes and the floor. The right-sized brush will ease painting, and a roller and extension handle are vital for painting ceilings.

No matter what your budget is for renovations, plan for 25% more than you’re planning to spend. This will give you wiggle room for unexpected expenses, upgrades, and replacement parts or items. You never know what’s going to happen, but having enough money to cover any problems will give you peace of mind.

Take a little time to prepare for a home improvement project! When you are painting a room it is important to cover the furniture in the room before you begin. If paint gets splattered onto the furniture it could ruin it permanently. Sheets can be used to cover the furniture and protect it from possible drips or smears from paint.

After your home improvement work is finished, do not submit your final payment until you are happy with the work that was performed. You can also make “progress payments,” which involves giving the contractor small sums of money in certain increments over the course of the project. Do not pay for work that you are not satisfied with.

One small tip for restoring damaged or aged furniture or you just don’t like the finish, if it has a wood veneer which is chiped or broken you can replace these which modern looking veneers. If, however there are just some small scratches on your furniture then use Liberon wax filler sticks for a quick and easy repair.
